May is Asthma Awareness Month—a time to recognize the daily challenges faced by the more than 4.6 million Canadians living with asthma and to remember the 300 lives lost to the disease each year. In 2025, Canada is once again taking a bold visual stand for asthma awareness by lighting up iconic landmarks across the country in blue. The initiative kicks off with World Asthma Day on Tuesday, May 6, bringing national attention to this serious respiratory condition.
This year’s campaign encourages everyone to participate by snapping a photo of any blue-lit landmark and sharing it on social media using hashtags #WorldAsthmaDay and #AsthmaAwarenessMonth. It’s a simple but powerful way to help raise awareness, spark conversations, and show support for those living with asthma.
